Show and Tell: Marisa Valentino’s Daisy Quilt

Marisa showing us the details of her quilt

At yesterday’s sewing day we were treated to an amazing quilt.  Who would think of using old tweed jackets to make a stunning quilt?  That would be Marisa Valentino!

After putting the pieces together, Marisa stitched the top using a Sanshiko stitching approach.  With that done, she appliqued Daisies over the top.

The end result?  Stunning!!!

Raffle Quilt on display at Quintessential Quilts

QuiltWest 2012 Raffle Quilt - 1st Prize

Our ‘to die for’ raffle quilt has started its shop tour and is currently with Sue Drill and her crew at Quintessential Quilts in Morley.  It will be there for three weeks.  Sue has raffle tickets to sell as well.

If you have never been to Quintessential, then go now.  They have a fabulous range of fabrics (take a look at the online video to get the drool going), a great book collection and lots of notions and must-haves.  While you are there, check out the classes and the Loyalty Club too.  I can recommend doing Robyn’s applique class. You might as well learn from one of the best!

They are at 1/8 Dewar Street, Morley, Western Australia 6062, near Galleria, and they are open from 9:30 am Mon – Sat.

Robyn Falloon Workshop

Weekend Workshop with Robyn Falloon

Another weekend and another workshop. This month we were so lucky to have Robyn Falloon visit us over here in Perth. She was such a kind and lovely teacher and her applique is amazing, the colours she uses in her quilts is so inviting, you just can’t stop looking at them.
Friday was spent learning Needleturn Applique techniques, plus we all went mad buying up all of the templates and patterns that Robyn had brought with her. Saturday and Sunday we designed our own applique patterns using Robyn’s templates and our own drawings. Of course everyone claimed they couldn’t draw but from the results they clearly had talents they never knew they had.

Here are a few pictures of everyone enjoying themselves in the conference room that we had our sewing set up in.
